This complex etching, with added roulette, by British printmaker Hedley Fitton is of the "John Knox" house in Edinburgh, Scotland that was rumored to be the residence of the protestant reformer (it was not). Fitton was noted for his detailed architectural works, done throughout Europe.
The building was begun in 1490 and went through many changes through the years. Over the centuries it has been the subject of many artists' works, photographs and postcards. It was remodeled in 1984 and is now owned by the Church of Scotland and is a museum, administered by the Scottish Storytelling Centre.
