Description
This early rare etching by Ernest Roth was part of his "Venice Series" done in Italy between 1905 and 1907 while living there. Like Whistler he used a feather to apply his acid directly to the plate with a painterly effect. "Reflections" was done in 1906 and was not editioned. In an article on Roth's etching in the Print Collector's Quarterly in February of 1938, John Taylor Arms about "Reflections" and "Quiet Canal": "These last I unhesitatingly place among Roth's finest etchings....a happy blending of tonal feeling and liear charm."
